There will be another video on the regular Note 14 soon, so make sure you subscribe and hit the bell icon so you don’t miss anything!
A Look Back at the Note Series
The Redmi Note Series has always enjoyed massive popularity, especially in the mid-range market. The Pro Plus version, in particular, has always stood out as the premium option, offering advanced features, durable build quality, and a strong performance-to-price ratio. But things have changed. Today, the market is exceptionally competitive, especially with phones priced under ₹30,000.
Brands like Realme, OnePlus, and Motorola now compete fiercely in this space, and Redmi has to bring its A-game to keep hold of the crown. With the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus, they're aiming to do just that while maintaining their loyal fan base.
What About Pricing and Availability?
At the moment, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is only available in China. It’s likely that the phone will come to India by the end of the year, possibly around December or January. Right now, it's priced at around ₹30,000, which slots it in the mid-range category. There may be some minor differences once the phone comes to India, but we’ll get into that later.
Unboxing the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus
The unboxing experience didn’t reveal too many surprises, but there were a few small changes worth talking about. Here's what you get inside
* SIM card tool
* A protective case, which feels sturdier than previous models
* USB Type-A to Type-C cable
* 90W charger
* Necessary documentation
There aren’t many extras in the box, but the 90W charger is a welcome inclusion, allowing you to take full advantage of the phone’s fast charging capabilities.
First Impressions on the Design
When holding the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus for the first time, you immediately notice the heft. This is no light, flimsy device. It feels solid and luxurious. It has a curved front and back, which is a step up from previous Note models.
The phone is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, while the back uses Gorilla Glass 7i, making it more resistant to scratches and drops. It’s likely one of the most durable Note phones to date. The striking camera module on the back also hints that this phone means business.
A Power-Packed Camera Setup
The camera setup on the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is particularly interesting this time around. The phone houses a 50MP telephoto lens, which sets it apart from many competitors. What’s really unique about the camera on this phone is that it features sensors from different brands for different lenses:
* 50MP primary sensor by OmniVision, using light fusion technology
* 8MP ultra-wide sensor from Sony
* Telephoto sensor from the Samsung JN1
Even the front 20MP selfie shooter uses OmniVision tech. All of this gives the phone a diverse range of capabilities, from crisp landscape shots to detailed portraits. The telephoto lens delivers 2.5X optical zoom, but you can zoom up to 5X for very usable photos.
Display: Sharp and Colorful
The display is where this phone really shines. The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. This is already solid, but what really stands out is that it’s a 12-bit display, capable of showing 68 billion colors, and it has Dolby Vision support.
For media consumption—whether it's binge-watching Netflix or YouTube videos—this is one of the best displays at this price. The resolution is also impressive at 1.5K, and brightness peaks at 3000 nits, ensuring visibility even under harsh sunlight.
Under the Hood: Core Specifications
The heart of the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is the new 7S Gen 3 processor. It is distributed with high-end variants like 12GB or 16GB RAM in China. While there’s no 8GB variant in China, it’s still uncertain whether the 8GB model will be available for the Indian market. Hopefully, Redmi will stick to the 12GB model with competitive pricing.
The phone runs on LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 2.2 storage in China, lending solid reliability but leaving room for improvement since we expect UFS 3.1 storage in India. After all, many competitors are already offering UFS 3.1 storage at this price point.
That’s also why the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus has a slightly lower AnTuTu score of 7.5 lakh. If UFS 3.1 were included, that score would go a bit higher. Still, this is a very capable phone based on gaming and app performance benchmarks.
Battery Life and Charging Speed
One of the highlights has to be the 6200mAh battery. Despite its enormous capacity, the phone’s size hasn’t increased because Xiaomi has used a high-density silicon carbon design. So, even with a large battery, the form factor remains comfortable to hold.
Along with this battery, you get 90W fast charging, allowing you to charge the phone in no time. This combination of efficiency, power, and speed makes the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus ideal for heavy users and gamers alike.
Gaming Performance
When it comes to gaming, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus doesn’t disappoint. The powerful 7S Gen 3 processor supports gaming at 60FPS on most games, with the potential to go up to 120FPS on select titles. Gaming enthusiasts will be curious to see how the phone performs in India, where frame rates for popular games like Battlegrounds Mobile and Call of Duty get a lot of attention.
Software and Operating System
While the phone runs Android 14 with HyperOS in China, there's hope that by the time it launches in India, Android 15 could be available. HyperOS is expected to bring several optimizations that should make the device faster and more efficient. The possibility of Android 15 OOTB could make this phone even more attractive to early adopters.
Solid Connectivity Features
In terms of connectivity, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus comes well-prepared with
* Complete 5G band support (details for India are awaited)
* WiFi 6 compatibility
* Bluetooth 5.4
* The traditional IR Blaster that doubles as a remote control for various devices.
It’s not just about staying connected here; the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus actively caters to users who love extra gadgetry, like IR Blasters and NFC.
Multimedia and Audio Experience
Redmi has focused heavily on multimedia performance. Those who enjoy streaming or watching content on their phones will love the stereo speakers. The sound quality is crisp and clear, and the bright display enhances the overall experience.
Don’t expect audiophile-level sound, but for a smartphone in this price range, the audio output is more than adequate.
Camera Performance in Real Life
When it comes to shooting with the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus, the results are impressive. Images offer excellent clarity, although the tone leans a bit toward the warmer side. The edge detection is quite accurate, making portrait shots particularly good with the help of the telephoto lens.
The 2.5X optical zoom performs well, and even up to 5X zoom delivers usable photos. This feature sets the Note 14 Pro Plus apart from many other mid-range phones, which often struggle with zoom quality.
Video Recording
The back camera supports 4K video recording at 30FPS, providing detailed and smooth footage. Meanwhile, the front camera can record 1080P video, which is perfect for high-quality social media posts or quick vlogs. Plus, with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) support, your videos will be stable and shake-free, even on the go.
Durability and Certifications
Xiaomi has clearly gone all in on durability. The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is packed with an IP66, IP68, and IP69 certification, which means it’s dustproof and water-resistant. You could dunk this phone in 2 meters of water for extended periods without worry.
To top it off, the drop test we performed showed solid results. While it’s a hefty device, it survived a significant impact without visible damage. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass 7i on the back ensure it can handle some rough treatment.
Anticipated Changes for India
We expect a few slight differences for the Indian launch – possibly new RAM and storage variants, possibly some camera tweaks. But for now, the phone's specs look promising.
Final Thoughts
The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus delivers a lot for a mid-range phone. With a durable build, impressive display, powerful processor, and long battery life, it ticks a lot of boxes. The camera system, with its diverse sensor selection, could be a game-changer for mobile photography enthusiasts.
